From the Blue Bag is a recycle giftware company that raises the awareness of recycling with/for local businesses through the creation of new, functional items from discarded glass containers (bottles). We accomplish our green initiative and recycling mission in two ways. First, we educate local businesses on the importance and value of recycling and provide them with a means for them to recycle their glass containers. We also help them in setting up a viable recycling program, all of which makes their business more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Second, we transform their discarded glass items into food functional serving ware, including serving trays, bowls, and centerpieces made from recycled bottles. From the Blue Bag starts with the recycled bottles and creates functional art by melting the bottles in a kiln at over 1500 degrees. We then temper them, which enables them to go into the oven, freezer and dishwasher. We are also able to customize our products by engraving a personal message onto them with our laser engraver. As part of our ongoing and holistic approach to recycling, we also take discarded packing materials and used them to ship our products along with having all our boxes and packing materials returned back to be reused. We also are continually exploring new and different ways to extend and continue our green mission.
